600 goodie bags, 500 children, one ice cream van, hundreds of books bought, 2 hours signing and a whole gang of HarperCollins staff later and we have one very successful premiere for David Walliams and his new book RATBURGER!
Last night saw the hugely exciting premiere event for new book Ratburger take place at Chelsea’s Cadogan Hall. David Walliams himself appeared on stage in conversation with Britain’s Got More Talent presenter Stephen Mulhern, talking all about writing his latest book and treating the audience to some live reading, with hilarious voices! He took lots of questions from a very, very, VERY excited audience, including “What did you want to be as a child?” – 1. A spy or 2. Tarzan and “What’s your favourite book?” – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl. Before the event even started, the lovely booksellers from Waterstones had already sold 300 copies of the brand new book – not even published yet, but available exclusively at this event. When the event finished and the crowds entered the lobby they formed one loooong queue for their chance to meet David and get their books signed by him, as well as the illustrator, Tony Ross…
After two hours of meeting the fans and signing, David and Tony were finally finished and sent home to rest! Every child in the audience looked like they absolutely loved the event, judging by the beaming grins and happy faces as they took home their signed books and dazzling goody bags. A brilliant event all round and thanks to Cadogan Hall, Waterstones, Tony Ross, Stephen Mulhern and of course a huge thank you to David for taking the time to meet his fans.
Not long to wait now if you’re jealous of all those with their copies of Ratburger as it will be officially published on Wednesday the 19th September, so pop into your local bookshop then! If you just can’t wait, pre-order now here or the ebook here!
