75 years ago on the 21st September, J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit was published for the very first time. To mark the glorious 75th anniversary we are inviting everyone to celebrate hobbit style: with a scrumptious Second Breakfast!
Tweet your second breakfast pics with the hashtag #hobbitsecondbreakfast or post your pictures on the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TheHobbitBook !
Over 2.5 million fans of the book have been invited via the official Facebook Page to join in with the festivities across the world. In addition, schools around the UK will be getting involved, with classrooms decorated as The Shire and taking part in Hobbit themed activities. The host website www.hobbitsecondbreakfast.com which went live last month features recipes and tips on how to host your own second breakfast as well as downloadable decorations.
And HarperCollins will be hosting a magical Second Breakfast event for fans and media at Fulham Palace on Saturday with a star from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Coverage so far has been widespread, with pick-ups in the Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Evening Standard, Independent, Times, Independent on Sunday, The Guardian, Time Out, City AM, Big Issue and the Bookseller, plus broad mentions in the regionals and online.
